Price Matching at Home Outfitters
2008-01-10 18:09:59
| "she told me sarcastically that I wasted my time buying this item in their store and that next time I should just do my shopping at Zellers" |
On December 30,2007, I was doing my grocery at Zellers when I saw an ad at the store for a KitchenAid 10 cup coffee maker. It was originally $140 but they were selling it for $70. I took the add with me which had the sku number, the picture and the price of the item. I decided that Ill drop by Home Outfitter after because I needed to get a couple of things, and buy the coffee maker at the same time.
I got to Home Outfitters at around 4pm, picked up the other things that I needed and talked to the floor supervisor (a middle aged lady with medium lenght, curly black hair) about price matching the coffee maker. At first she insisted that they never price match. I told her, that information is incorrect because that was written on their advertisement that they have on the store, It say that they do price match. She then ask me which store was it from. I said Zellers. She then told me that Zellers only sells cheap items and that it is a different item and not even comparable. I told her that we should get the product compare the sku #s that was on my ad. We did and it match. She then proceeded to say that she still needed to verify it from Zellers themselves and to make sure that the product was in stock because if it was not she cant sell me the item. She called them and verified that the sku# are the same and they have 5 more items. After she hung up the phone, she told me sarcastically that I wasted my time buying this item in their store and that next time I should just do my shopping at Zellers. At this point, my jaw dropped. I was shocked and appalled that even said this things. I advised her that in case she was not aware that Zellers, and The Bay are there sister company and she should not bad mouth them. I told her I work as a Consumer Relations Consultant for a Fortune 500 company. I would never say these thing to my customer nor would let anybody that I manage say these things. I told her that the reason why I decided to come to their store to begin with is because I recently moved and I need a couple of things for my brand new house. I was also, going to register for the Gift registry for my June wedding 08. I guess my business is going somewhere else, not that Home Outfitters care anyway.
