No support for XBOX 360
2008-02-27 14:48:43
"I only want what I paid too much for."
I recently purchased an Xbox 360 console. It is well documented that this console often has problems. I understood that Xbox/Microsoft was doing what they could to fix these problems. Alas, my console died last night. I was attempting to discover the problem by following each suggestion on the troubleshoot section of their website. Nothing worked. I contacted tech support at 1.800.4MY.XBOX. I was greeted by an operator from an answering service outsourced to India. This is nothing new in tech support. I very clearly stated my problems and the steps that I had taken to correct the issue. Its now been 25 minutes on the phone and she begins to ask questions to help me troubleshoot. Each question she asks is directly from the website troubleshoot page. I read along with her. She suggests that the disc is scratched or dirty. This is after I have explained twice, that two seperate, brand new versions of the same game (Call of Duty4) would not work. I explained very simply that the game has just come out of the package, twice. To which she responds; is this happening with all of your games? At this point I am infuriated because it is as if she is not listening to anything that Ive explained but rather, trying to read her troubleshoot questionnaire. I finally have to ask, It is blatantly obvious that you are reading from the screen and have no understanding of what you are troubleshooting. I have called for tech support. May I ask, have you ever even seen an Xbox 360? Her only response was, Im sorry. I waited another 20 minutes on hold for her supervisor at which point I had to admit that my pursuit was futile. Microsoft sells a product and then disappears, when it comes time to stand by it. I have spent $1000 on equipment and games. I currently pay a monthly fee for an online service that I am unable to use because the product return policy for Xbox is known to take months. Its a $400 console and each game I own has cost me $60 with one costing me $200. I have also downloaded expensive gaming content. It seems to me that this should be worth a five minute phonecall to Microsoft. I am ashamed to admit that I have convinced three of my friends to choose and Xbox 360 over a PS3. If you are considering an Xbox, just remember, the person who sold it to you, doesnt exist. I have a friend who has been waiting for two months to recieve the return box that you must send your faulty console to Microsoft in. All the while, watching his monthly subscription to Xbox Live waste away. I only want what I paid too much for.
Sincerely,
Derrick DeMaio
