BounceWeb: Low Quality Hosting, Read the Fine Print!
2007-02-21 15:37:37
"The next time I visited my website, it was gone. BounceWeb had removed it even though I had paid for several more months of service!"
Even though I was an experienced web designer (since 1995) I was looking for cheap hosting for a new project of mine and someone had shown me bounceweb.com. The price was right and I paid for an extended hosting contract, unfortunately I was about to learn that you get what you pay for. The worst thing for any web publisher is downtime, and I got plenty of random downtime with their hosting company. I would go to my websites and they would simply not show up. I complained, they were never unable to find the problem or fix it. Then, one day I visited my website and instead of my page, there was a huge list of every single site that was on that server, including pornographic websites. Immediately, my website visitors started asking me what was going on (most of which were kids as the site was a family-oriented website). I complained to BounceWeb and the problem was eventually fixed, but in the meantime, my website was picked up by work-based content filters and banned as a pornographic website even though it was not related to that content in any way. BounceWeb refused to take responsibility for compromising my website due to their poor service. I immediately decided that Bouceweb was a mistake and I cancelled my subscription and started to look for a replacement. The next time I visited my website, it was gone. BounceWeb had removed it even though I had paid for several more months of service!

Turns out that they remove accounts if you cancel your subscription, so unless you cancel very close to your expiration date, you will NEVER receive the full service you paid for. I checked their terms of service and I was appalled to see that this was written right in their terms of service, I was shocked that they had written a way to steal your money into their terms of service!

I gave up. But, on the bright side, If I had stayed with a low quality host like BounceWeb, my business would not be where it is today.
