Staples: "Limited" Extended Warranty

I bought a Compaq laptop from Staples and then purchased the extended warranty (yeah, yeah, I know...) But I know laptops get beat around quite a bit so I definitely thought it was worth it. Within the first year, the ground-prong power cable snapped off. I went to staples with the cord and they refused to replace the cable, stating that it wasn't classified as a manufacturer defect. They instead, offered to sell me the entire laptop AC unit from Compaq for over $100! Instead, I bought the replacement cable off eBay for $1.99
